Hi, I’m Jodi-Lynn, though most people call me Jodi, Jodes, or Jodels. I’ve always embraced standing out rather than blending in. Being the “black sheep” was never something I tried to hide; it became the mindset that encouraged me to challenge limits, think differently, and create my own path.
I am an ambitious young businesswoman with a passion for growth, innovation, and creating meaningful impact. I thrive in diverse, fast-paced environments where I take pride in exceeding expectations and delivering high-quality results. Driven by curiosity and a commitment to continuous learning, I aim to contribute to organizational success while growing both personally and professionally.
From a young age, I learned the value of consistency, resilience, and stepping outside my comfort zone. At eight years old, I began a 14-year journey in club and school cross-country, and in matric, I became the only learner in my grade to take on an eighth subject as part of a pilot programme. These experiences taught me that growth comes from embracing challenges and opportunities that push you beyond what feels familiar.
After matriculating from Norman Henshilwood High School in 2021 with a Bachelor's pass, I completed my BCom in Strategic Management (NQF Level 7) at IIE Varsity College, graduating in April 2025. I am currently completing an Advanced Digital Marketing Course (NQF Level 5) through the Digital School of Marketing, combining strategic thinking with creativity to build a career in marketing that inspires me.
Throughout my studies, I actively sought opportunities to broaden my knowledge through practical learning experiences, including the Business Today Simulation, Vega School's Copywriting Fundamentals course, UniAthena's Microsoft Excel programme, and webinars focused on leadership, resilience, and Gen Z branding. These experiences strengthened my belief that marketing is about more than promoting products; it's about understanding people, building authentic connections, and creating meaningful experiences.
Professionally, I have gained experience across marketing, digital communications, event coordination, and administration through roles with Oxford University Press Southern Africa, Virtually Everything For You, Olympic Spartan Harriers Athletic Club, and as a temporary receptionist at Heathfield Primary School. Currently, as a Digital Marketing Intern at Oxford University Press Southern Africa, I work across multiple functions, including social media management, content strategy, graphic design, administration, freelancer coordination, and internal communications. I contribute to the planning and execution of integrated marketing campaigns, create engaging digital content, manage websites and email marketing, analyse campaign performance, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver impactful educational marketing initiatives. My work has included leading and supporting campaigns such as the PASA Content Reframing Project, the North West Top-Up Campaign, Foundation Phase multi-channel campaigns, and marketing initiatives for Zambia. In recognition of my innovation, initiative, and commitment to excellence, I was honoured with the High Five Award for my contribution to digital engagement, content creation, and knowledge sharing within the Marketing team. Alongside my marketing experience, my previous roles strengthened my skills in event coordination, client communication, administration, stakeholder management, teamwork, and adaptability, while building a strong foundation for working in fast-paced, people-centred environments.
Creativity is at the heart of everything I do. I enjoy transforming ideas into engaging brand experiences and have developed conceptual marketing campaigns for Red Bull and Essence, combining storytelling, UX design, and content strategy to bring each concept to life. You can explore these projects in the Marketing Portfolio section of this website.
Outside of my professional life, I am passionate about fitness and challenging both my body and mind. My journey has taken me from running on a treadmill to exploring Cape Town's roads, trails, and mountains through road running, trail running, hiking, and cross-country. I have also been a proud member of Spartan Harriers, the oldest running club in Cape Town. My first love, however, has always been horses. Their beauty, strength, and gentle nature have inspired me from a young age and continue to remind me of the grace, resilience, and freedom found in the world around us.
Music has also been a lifelong passion. I love to sing, achieved Descant Recorder Level 2, and enjoy teaching myself new songs on the piano. Together, these passions have shaped me into a creative, determined, and compassionate individual who values balance, embraces challenges, and is always eager to learn and grow.
At my core, I believe that success comes from combining creativity with strategy, curiosity with discipline, and ambition with authenticity. Whether I'm developing a marketing campaign, coordinating an event, tackling a mountain trail, or learning a new skill, I strive to make a meaningful impact and leave every opportunity better than I found it.
